Equities Trading UP
Forest Laboratories (NYSE: FRX) shot up 30.07 percent to $92.86 after Actavis (NYSE: ACT) announced its plans to buy Forest Labs for $25 billion. Analysts at Morgan Stanley upgraded Forest Labs from Equal-Weight to Overweight. - [By Dan Burrows]
True, that’s peanuts compared to the $100 billion Pfizer (PFE) is offering for AstraZeneca (AZN), and just a fraction of the $46 billion Valeant (VRX) offered for Allergan (AGN). Holders of Merck stock probably know the deal between MRK and Bayer even pales compared to the $25 billion acquisition of Forest Labs (FRX) by Actavis (ACT).

What national minimum wages mean for investors
It's important to realize that minimum-wage laws affect companies only to the extent of their operations in their home countries. For instance, in Australia, mining giants BHP Billiton (NYSE: BHP ) and Rio Tinto (NYSE: RIO ) have to follow minimu! m-wage la! ws for their Australian operations, but elsewhere around the world, both companies have faced labor disputes over pay levels that in some cases are much lower than what Australian law would require domestically. Moreover, even as Eaton (NYSE: ETN ) , Actavis (NYSE: ACT ) , and other companies have moved or are in the process of moving their corporate headquarters to Ireland, you shouldn't expect a huge shift of employees that would require higher pay. - [By Louis Navellier]
One such company is Actavis (ACT), one of the worlds largest generic drugmakers. With a portfolio of more than 750 pharmaceutical products, Actavis has its name on everything from antibiotics to contraceptives to smoking-cessation treatments. ACT operates in more than 60 countries and out-licenses generic products in more than 100 countries, so it is a direct beneficiary of the falling dollar.
